I often lie awake at night
While others are asleep
I take a trip down memory lane
With tears upon my cheeks
No one knows the heartache
I try so hard to hide
No one knows how many times
I've broken down and cried
We shared so many happy times
We shared some sad one's too
But the saddest day of all my life
Was the day that I lost you

I want to thank you all for the lovely comments .....I am new to this and i dont know how to use it ....but i will learn xxx thanks again xxx

I heard my name
And on the wings of light I have come
To see the sadness in your eyes.

Can you see me, I am here.
I will always be near you,
To calm your heart
And to make you smile at the memories.

Do you feel me; perhaps a soft brush of fur,
You brush away a strand of hair.
But it was I, whispering.
I am only here for a moment.

I will leave behind my love in a dream.
When you awaken and without really knowing why
Your heart will know at last
That it is all right for now
to say goodbye.

“A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself.”

valentines is not just for people, its for all of those animals who have touched our lives and our hearts. Those we still love so dearly, and who undoubtedly still love us.

Thinking of our very special friends today and always with love & fondest memories ~~X~~

When a pet dies, that special place in our hearts feels so empty...
But we realize, as time passes, that animals have a way of teaching us about loving, about loyalty, joy, and friendship...
And whatever we’ve shared in their presence can never really be lost.

I know you said that you could never go through that again,
I know you said
You couldn't stand the heartache and the pain.
I know you said
No other dog could take your best friend's place,
You said it so sincerely,
With such sadness in your face.

Please think again my dog-loving friend,
Sadly you had to part.
But he still walks beside you
In your mind and in your heart.
I know that you'd feel that you let him down,
If you found another friend
For you had cried your heart out,
When your hero faced the end.

I know if he could speak to you,
He'd tell you what to do.
He'd say 'somewhere a lonely dog
Needs someone good like you'.
I know that he would mention
That he loved you all his days
And he'd thank you for just being you,
With your dog loving ways.

And I know that he would tell you
Not to carry on alone,
To accept the fact that he is gone,
And give another dog a home.
He'd tell you that he'd watch over you
And guide you as you go
And your life will be filled with sunshine again,
You'll walk in a wonderful glow.
He'd tell you he was happy still,
That his living was not in vain,
Then he'd go off and wait at Heaven's Gate,
Until you meet again.

They will not go quietly,
the pets who've shared our lives.
In subtle ways they let us know
their spirit still survives.

Old habits still can make us think
we hear them at the door
Or step back when we drop
a tasty morsel on the floor.

Our feet still go around the place
the food dish used to be,
And, sometimes, coming home at night,
we miss them terribly.

And although time may bring new friends
and a new food dish to fill,
That one place in our hearts
belongs to them...
and always will.

If we could have one lifetime wish, and one dream that could come true, we would pray to God with all our hearts just to see and speak to you. A thousand words won't bring you back we know because we've tried and neither will a million tears, we know because we've cried. You've left behind our broken hearts and precious memories too but we never wanted memories, we only wanted you xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I know what you're thinking. You think I'm dead. Because you cannot see me with your human eye, cannot feel me with your hands or hold me in your arms, you think I am gone forever.
You recall how I looked when I left this place, and you cannot remotely imagine that I could possibly be alive in another place. You are racked and torn by the pain of our separation and it blinds you to that which is right in front of you... me..............
I'm here to tell you different. You were worthy of my love and undying devotion on earth as I of yours. Do you really believe this love would be snatched from us forever by a loving Creator simply because I wasn't human? Was I not a living, breathing creation with personality? How could I have been so if I didn't possess the energy of soul, spirit and loving light? And if this energy is and always will be, then how can it be that I am dead?
.................

You say that all you have left are memories. Not so. You see, when I took leave of my earthly body I left a little something behind for you. You can't touch it, hold it or examine it for what I left behind is far too uninhibited for confinement. I left behind a piece of my soul. I placed it right next to your own which is quite fitting as we were always side by side in our earthly life together. I love you too much to have left you with nothing but memories, which tend to fade and grow cloudy as the years go by.
I love you too much to have vanished without a trace. How selfish it would be of me to remove love and light from your life.
.............

I understand your tears, each one you shed is testament to your love for me and I am honored and humbled. But don't forget the good things we shared - remember and smile. This is an honor for me as well. And when you need me I will be here. Close your eyes, relax, take slow, deep breaths and picture me in your mind. Shut off the world and your notions of what death is and give me a chance. Look for the subtle signs I send you. Don't stop being proud of me, I am a friend to be proud of, I am still your friend and soul mate.
Don't memorialize the death of my body but instead honor and celebrate my never-ending life for it is eternal and forever as is my love for you.
Until we meet again...
